"I was 21 and Alex was 19. I’d seen her out and about the city a few times and I’d done a bit of due diligence into who she was and where she was from and I really liked her when I saw her and I thought, you know, if I could pluck up enough courage, I’ll give her a call and see if she fancies going on a date. The first call didn’t go well. I was a bit nervous on the phone and she just completely blew me out, she wasn’t having it at all. So that was that. And then it took me a week or so to pluck up the courage to go for call two and I fired in again and the second time I was successful. And here we are, three kids, married five years and everything’s fine."

Johnathan Boggan’s best man speech at Stevie’s wedding.
He’s the most miserable man in football - so here’s my chance to give him some stick! He’s become a celebrity but he’s kept his feet firmly on the ground. As a kid he used to have spots, big ones like golf balls and he was always miserable and narky. Now the spots have gone but he’s still miserable. We’ve always been great mates but on the pitch he was always everyone’s enemy. He once belted me 6ft in the air during a game and just said: “Get up you little girl.” Nowadays he drives Bentleys but back in the day he used to drive a Nissan Bluebird with a really expensive CD player. I knew Alex and when he first saw her he asked: “Who is she?” And I told him: “She’s well out of your league.” Before their first date though, he nearly blew it. He was actually texting Danny(Murphy) about how much he was looking forward to meeting up with her and he accidentally sent it to Alex. When he realized what he’d done he offered me £500 to take the blame. But I told him no way. Thank God she saw the funny side. You deserve a pat on the back for a lot of the good things you’ve done in your life, none more so than when you got Alex’s jugs done! I wish you both the best in the world!
